I can relate to a lot of the characters as a bullied, envious child. Most of the characters I wish to provide professional counseling/therapy, and others I wish to pry open their belittling eyes. I'm swept into the class's fiasco and horrendous attitudes. It's a scary reality to imagine these cruel kids shoving and kicking down kids who are different... it's already scarier to experience first-hand. The plot is captivating.
I love the raw image of bullying they portray in this manga and how the victim of bullying gets up and makes up with their old enemies, and how to face your problems head on like how shoko is portayed.
The manga is more detailed than the movie(more character backstory). As a romantic person, i wanted to see them confess to each other and talk about their feelings(but i think it will ruin the story since Naoka likes him too). The ending is good tho seeing those two smiling holding each other
Im currently only on chapter 7, and Im ugly crying in bed over this. Her having the courage and strength to forgive his horrible actions in the past, him apologizing to her and her mother, and him deciding not to end his life. This story is seriously heart wrenching and beautiful, even only 7 chapters in.
UPDATE: just finished this. life changing, seriously. cant stop crying. holy hell.
I lost count of how many times I saw the movie, always avoided reading the manga because I knew I would cry even more ... No matter how much I cry, in the end my chest is light.
Manages to convey emotions and actions realistically. It also explores the painful side of 'redemption' and the things that can never be undone with mere apologies.
