Why the fuck are so many mangas that havent actually been updated showing up as newly updated!! I try not to get to excited when I see a fav mangaka on the newly updated list-I'm totally a fan of Honjou Rie-although a few of her mangas are in my "not gonna read that again" list
After a forced separation from his beloved friend, Motoharu, Kyouya returns to Karatsu to dispose of his grandfather's estate and put his unrequited love behind him. He does not expect his feelings to be returned. Against a backdrop of small-town life and traditional Shinto festivals, two friends reconnect after years of separation. As usual, Honjoh Rie's characters and plot feel authentic, but lack facial micro-expressions. The manga includes a few oneshots which are more comedic.
Sweet friends to lovers. It’s mutual but it took some angst to sort it out. He is definitely insecure and should move close to him when he works. Why not, don’t you want to be together? Short one shots at the end.
Cute stories, just missing something to make them special. Like the first one, so much time spent apart..it was like they didn’t really prioritise each other.
A man returns to his hometown, and gets swept up again by its small-town ways. A deeply touching story about longing and homecoming, set against the backdrop of a little-known Japanese festival. Honjou Rie's full-page spreads are a sumptuous feast for the eyes, and she reverently and lovingly captures a colorful little microcosm of provincial Japan and its customs. Heartbreak, nostalgia and yearning are all palpably rendered on page; dreamlike sequences, wonderfully, surreally glissando, burst through the frames.
