I read this Manga back in high school (2004) and to this day, it is still my favorite. I truly fell in love with the main characters. This manga left such an impression on me, i could read it over and over and over and not get sick of it. It's got romance, action, mystery, twist plots, everything you want in a manga. Please read. I promise you it will touch your heart in some way!

I really love the darkness and the love in this story; plus I like the art (one of the few stories where time passes and the hair actually grows).

My god... it is impossible to describe this manga ... it is suffocating ... takes my breath away... I love it... one of the best that i already read... It's a sad history but everything changed throughout history... REIS CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT IS SO GOODDD AHHH i didn’t like this as much towards the beginning bc he was such an ass even tho they were a pretty good couple even then ..... i hated him most in the part w kiras step dad though he handled it so badly .. but anw the story kept going in such strange directions i never would’ve predicted but in a mostly good way and the way they ended up resolving every issue mentioned was so goodddd

I have mixed feelings with this manga. Everyone was so fucked up at first and then the character developments are great at some points. I just didn't like how Kira's mother chose to stand up for the rapist stepfather instead of her daughter. That's seriously fucked up!! They didn't even have enough closure (mother and daughter)

Kira Aso and Rei Kashino meet when Rei asks Kira for directions to a local hospital one day in the park, but instead of telling him the directions she draws him a map and hands it to him without saying a word. On the back of the directions is a picture Kira drew of a mother and child. On the first day school they are both surprised to find that they are in the same class. Later Rei walks in on their teacher sexually harassing Kira. Rei promises to protect Kira in exchange for a painted version of the sketch that was on the back of the map. He also offers to "lend Kira his body" and she asks him to model for her. All this interaction leads to a very interesting relationship between the two.
