The brothers were great, the seme was terrible! Poor Sumi, why didnt he get some amazing happy ending he was most deserving!! the seme did nothing the whole time except hurt and run away and he magically got everything he wanted and had the happiest ending (ugg how realistic) maybe read it again tho for Sumi because he was such a great character

Frustrating, slow, and not particularly well drawn, this manga still sticks with me because of the wonderful characterization of its main characters, Toshi and Kyuu. Kyuu grows up through the three volume series, and his homesickness is particularly well written. The mangaka doesn't shy away from sketching out everyone's complicated cowardice, from Toshi who won't tell Kyuu his feelings, to Kyuu who is afraid of appearing two-faced, to Kyuu's brother, Sumi, who can't stop running away. This is a manga about how to care for other people and convey that caring, and the sweetness of the end is doubly rewarding because of how hard it was to come by.

Good grief, it takes them around 500 pages to get their feelings crossed. Miscommunication can be so scary.

this was beautiful. Really, the story just blew me away with it's realness and the feeling was that of reliving something I almost didn't want to. And honestly until the middle of the second volume I had no idea how it would end.
I really felt for Sumi, I hope she continues with his story.

In the Mimurake no Musuko series:
V.1 - Mimurake no Musuko A story set in countryside, about two childhood friends Yumi and Toshi. While going through puberty Toshi developes unresolved feelings for Yumi. One day Toshi meets Yumi's older brother Sumi and is lured into a sexual relationship with him. And so the love triangle begins...
V.2 - Deki no Waruiko The second son of the established rural Mimura family, Yumi, and Toshi are the closest of friends. Then one day, Yumi comes to know of Toshi's intimate relationship with Yumi's older brother, Sumi. After hearing Toshi confess that he likes Sumi, a shocked Yumi makes a plan to tear them apart, but...
V.3 - Umareboshi The second son of the established rural Mimura family, Yumi, and Toshi are the closest of friends. Even though their mutual feelings emerged as they held each other, the couple had a misunderstanding.... A heartbroken Yumi goes back alone to their hometown for the holidays, where the cherry blossoms flutter. But then, though he was able to separate himself quickly, all he can think about is Toshi. Yumi and Toshi's story in the Son of Mimura Family series is at its exciting climax!

So, I like childhood friends theme, so I liked Toshi and Yumi. But here I also liked Toshi with Sumi, Yumi's older brother. So, either it was a story for them, or a story only for Toshi and Yumi. Having Toshi using Sumi as a substitute, having his first time with him etc., made it hard for me to see him then together with Yumi. I mean, I liked them, but it was kinda sad for Sumi...so, I have mixed feelings...kinda frustrating.

I liked the slow paced plot. It was fluffy. And I am Happy for the main couple..Just Sumi..I'm sad that It seems he didn't or couldn't find happiness. Something bad happned to him..and I really hoped Yumi and Sumi could meet and talk again cause they are Brothers and I don't understand why they drifted. It was really an interesting plot. And I loved the countryside parts! Like the starry Sky in the nature. I Hope there will be maybe in the future a story about Sumi finding happiness!! There should be!

Read this because I saw it in the album of someone who left a really well thought out comment in a discussion on this site. It was kind of a weird way to find it but I am SO GLAD I did. While not always the happiest of stories both the main tale and the one shots are excellent. Loved the artwork as well. It was different and although graphic, not gratuitous. Mangakas who are able to integrate sex into a story so it's a meaningful part of what they are try to convey and not merely smut for smut's sake impress me the most.
