It’s a skewed story, or the main theme is about the fear of loving. The fear of loving, because once you love too hard, and they leave you, then you’re left with pain. The fear of the pain was so much greater than the experience of loving that person, our ML decided to live, his adult life, closing off his heart to everyone, including his friends. The MLs family comes from a pretty rich background, but both of the parents and his older brother are extremely busy. They never gave him the time and spent it together like a typical family. He would literally grow up alone in his apartment. They would also move often so the MO never had any long-term friends or relationships either. His grandma started to live with him in high school, and that taught him what warmth could feel like. How it feels like to depend on a family member, and to have someone be there with you at all times. However, the grandma died, and that left him with such a major heartbreak that since then, he has closed off his emotions to other people. He becomes a yes-man and agrees to anyone’s love for him, but he himself feels pretty indifferent to them.
The MC is a lover boy, has a great personality, and is really cute. He has a crush on the ML and even join the same broadcasting club as him just to get close to him. It became a one-sided love until they met each other when traveling abroad in Europe, and due to certain circumstances, they began traveling with each other. This brought them closer and the ML found the MC to be very cute.
What’s great and admirable about our MC is that he is very loyal and has a lot of love to give. Even though he learns that the ML has trouble, reciprocating love, is super afraid to be lonely, is pretty apathetic toward people, and is a serial dater, he’s still chooses to like the ML.
There was definitely a point in the story where I almost wanted to drop it because of how indifferent the ML felt. I like really intense emotions, so open till chapter 50, after all the love, and all the effort that the MC had done for the ML, and the ML still constantly thinks of breaking up with the MC, and just thinking about who else to date next, left a bad taste in my mouth.
Thankfully, the ML got what he deserved for making the MC feel so pathetic. The chase seen happens the last 20 or so chapters of the story where we now see that the MC has the upper hand and their relationship. They break up and that makes the ML realize how much he actually like the MC and he isn’t just with him to f not feel lonely. He’s with him because he likes him and no one is able to replace him.
I really like the ending because we constantly see the metaphor of the ML sitting in front of a fireplace, which symbolizes his heart and love. The fireplace is constantly burning out, and the MCU keeps on feeding wood into the fire to try to keep it from burning out. But at the very end the moral of the story is that you need to be proactive in your relationship with people, including friends, family, and lovers to keep that fire going. This isn’t a one-sided story where the MC continues to give his love, and that solves the problem. No amount of love from anyone will be able to cure the MLs loneliness, if he doesn’t reach out and make an effort first. So at the very end, we see a scene of the MLB getting to work hard and light, his own fireplace and keeping both himself and the MC warm. Such a great ending, and a use of metaphor.
I feel like I almost relayed it to myself and my relationships, because you have to put an effort to maintain them. You can’t take it for granted.
The best friend of the MC, and the best friend of the ML also have some chemistry, but they don’t end up dating in the series.
The manhwa doesn’t have any explicit sex scenes either, it’s very PG.
