I recommend, if someone reads this, and tends to speak pretty loudly or laughs easily, do not, I repeat DO NOT read this at night, unless you want to wake up your neighbors because of your laugh. This is like the kind of manga that is where the roles are switched, kinda like Otomen but very different.

As an asian with a tan skintone I just really couldn't handle the colorism in this manga, it's not racist- it colorism. I've literally went through these struggles of being called ugly just because of my skin color or got told so much backhanded compliments because of it. When the mangaka draws the fl pale she always magically has the yassified filter and makes us think that she's pretty but when she's tan she's ugly? Wtf. I understand this manga is old but it really didn't age well.

I wouldn't recommend this manga, besides the colorism part, I only made it to chapter 2 but I just can't stand the fl's aggressiveness, I've liked some aggressive fls on comedy mangas before but I'm just so annoyed on how hell bent she is on how she looks, she's insecure asf, cries alot and is overall such an embarassment. I LOVE LOVE LOVEEE tomboy fls but only when the author doesn't shame them for being a tomboy. The ml was bland, he's cute but where's the personality? Lmao. FL's bestfriend is also a dissapointment, their friendship isn't relevant so- meh.

it's cute and funny, im not a fan of the ml but i really like the fl, she's not the usual fl. But this story is soo funny, the author's humor is immaculate. Im confused why are people calling her ugly, she's not though??. But overall this is 10/10.

After the first chapter i immediately wanted to stop reading but kept because it had good reviews then finished it out of spite hoping it would improve. There is the common troop of the man with a scary face and a cute girl, this acts like it the opposite but it’s not and is just dripping in colorism sexism and racism. The first chapter her skin tone is way darker than all the rest when they start making her cuter. Her skin tone changes in every scene and not in a way of shadowing but I’m a way of every time she is meant to be ugly, or scary, her skin tone is 3x darker. When she is cute and actually smile in an “ attractive” way her skin is not toned at all. Her friend is pretty racist as well and is never actually nice to her as she is only constantly making her make ugly faces and then drawing attention to her flaws. The girl has low self esteem because she has been made to thing she is ugly just by existing and truly the ml does not help at all. He did in fact originally make fun of her then didn’t actually apologize. He is clearly just an m which is fine on its own but he doesn’t actually bring anything of value to her and only gives her something to idolize and then make herself feel worse about. He also then insult her for not having a good self esteem and doesn’t try to help her but just punished her with his attitude and literally never defend her in any meaningful way. If u enjoyed it cool, but for me this just re enforced colorism in Asia while also portraying her as a stereotypical “strong scary dark skinned person” that many Asian countries view western black people as.

I- I literally love this manga so much it’s amazing nekxnwksmz… definitely one of my favorites

I soo love this that I was baffled when I clicked next and it just ended, I forgot to check in which chapter I already am lol. BUT despite loving Mihane's character, I have a lot issues with Touma's. Sure, he did like her real self and didn't bother on what other people think about them, but the scripting for his character was kinda weak and didn't give enough justice and chemistry with Mihane's. Especially the part where Mihane was clearly having a breakdown because of her insecurity (which was drilled onto her by everyone around her). I mean, she is mentally and emotionally strong but couldn't Touma have reassured her in a better way? Even the strongest can sometimes feel insecure you know? If this was longer tho, I believe the author could have made it like that so I'll still give this a 5 because I really loved it (⌒▽⌒)
