I think she suffered from quite severe depression and a lack of support. I'm not excusing her actions, but I think there's a lot more to it than just 'Off to parties, just cos'.

Dont hate the FL. This is what it is to be depressed, and I like how they represented this realistically considering this is a time where women are treated like shit. I appreciate that she isnt perfect like how other female leads with genres like these are, that makes room for character development. I also really like the fact that this isnt just about their son, the story also focuses abt their story arc. Idk why y'all treats the depression that the FL experienced as if it's her fault, I'm telling you postpartum depression ain't easy and no one wants to experience it either so don't treat it as merely a "tantrum". Mental health is fuckin important remember that

Man i cry so much for the female lead reading this. She is talented and wise and pretty but the whole world seems to treat her as a greenhouse flower. The Duke gave her so much insecurities and then treat her depression as a childish tantrum. The Duke'a aide didnt even let her handle the Duchess' duty for years.

Don't mind the top comments y'all. This seems to be a story ab the FL's struggle with postpartum depression. Don't let older comments stop you from reading, it gets so deep and emotional

I really appreciate the honest look at young motherhood this manhwa gives. In an era of lack of mental health care and the inherent gender bias, its no wonder she developed post partum depression. I truly adore this story, I hope to see the progression in the mother son dynamic and for the father recognise his role in the neglect of his son.

Ch45- okay I’m confused now. The comments kind of piss me off, like yes she was a bad mother in her first life, no doubt, but you guys have to see where she’s coming from as well. She became a mother young, and then when post pregnancy depression hit she had no one to rely on, she was going through a hard time as well. Yes it still doesn’t justify her actions of neglecting her kid and she knows that, that’s why in this second life she’s trying the best she can, and she even said that if her son never forgives her it’s okau, because she still loves him regardless. Damn some of y’all are really umempathic bastards in the comment section. I think this is a very good story that address the real hardships of this era being married young to a guy you don’t know well, then having a kid young, and going through depression having no one by your side. It’s hard, but even so she realizes she made mistakes and wants to change herself. I can’t help but admire her.

Honestly reading this has me so conflicted. On one hand I hate that it sort of feels like the FL is using her tears to be a "victim" when the real victim should be Vicente and his childhood but on the other hand it's like her mental health was not at a level suitable to raise a child without the love and support that she was used to and she's trying to atone but there is no good way to do so and even with all of that still battling her depression in a society that prefers logic over "feelings". I'll probably keep reading though because I like the way her depression is portrayed as an ongoing fight to mask and go from joy to self-loathing in a seemingly endless cycle rather than a "one day I just stopped being sad" that I've seen in other stories.

A perfect example of not to take lightly of depression. They both lack of communication and just assume things on their own. Adding more a lot of unexpected circumstances. But I do hope they'll work it out with their relationship. ❣

Hmm I shed tears I remembered my mom suddenly how hard it was for her sometimes and I didn't care it's just like I know people say it's parents responsibility to be adults and take care of their children but in the end they are humans too it's hard on them too and there is no responsibility or saying on their kids to be nice to them or understand them
