Honestly not bad of a redemption arc, it’s longer than most and continues on in part of the side story, (but the bar is low)
I don't know what's going on, but I don't like it
It’s so good; kinda feel like you can redeem yourself if you work hard and be sincere. I love how even though they’re trying to move forward, every now and then they somehow remember the trauma and the things they regret. A constant reminder to be better in this lifetime; that you don’t have to dwell in the past.
the seme is a black flag at the start and in like ch 40 he starts to have character development slowly and i loved the chasing arc and i loveee my baby ahjinn for being so strong i skipped the torturing parts
One more on the pile of trashy adaptations that make mature stories available to people with a reading comprehension level much lower than the original target demographic. It's irritating, but that's how it goes. The worst downgrade is the dialogue, my poor rusty gears are so ground I've repurposed them as toy car wheels. The way an exploited servant and a crime lord talk to each other; blushing and owo-ing through their passionate and tormented homosexual affair is at best baffling and at worst intimately insulting. They act like 12yos, their interactions make me cringe. Their inner dialogue runs through inane shortcuts so us baby manhwa readers can understand(excuse) their stupid decisions. In the novel you can judge their actions but you FEEL the rational, pitiful, hopeless moral void their fuckups come from. I feel wronged, debased, for being dumb and emotional enough to get strung along a reactive dumbass twink's reconciliation with his drug lord rapist boyfriend. "But he looks so saaaad!!! He's hurting way more than I did!!" Shut up, brat. Fucking idiot. Novel Ahjin had the balls and spine to back up his uncouth mouth. I understand and enjoy characters broken beyond a chance to ever achieve normalcy relying on the poison laced comfort of their reformed toxic lovers.. BUT I FUCKING HATE when weakness and being a doormat is portrayed as being "good". GIVE THESE MISERABLE KOREAN POOR UKES A BREATH OF SELF AWARENESS GODDDDAAAMNNNN
Ch30, apparently this gets rough which I can deal with but not if there's not pining regret chasing payoff so I'ma dip

Seme is a mob boss and uke is one of the many servants of the household. Setting is a bit old, 1950, so not quite historical.
They have a cute beginning but then uke is framed as a traitor. Shit starts going down from ch 34. Seme thought uke betrayed him, but didn't quite want to kill him out of love, yet still wanted to punish and let out his anger, so seme kept raping him, got him hooked on drugs. Uke's physical and mental heath deteriorates.
Ch 41 where uke even stops caring abt his motherly figure, seme is shocked that his threat didn't work.
After they both get killed, they awaken in the future with their past memories. Seme was reincarnated 13 years ago, while uke kinda just transported into adulthood. He has no memories of the new life. Lol also here the seme is the uke's secretary. He specifically looked for him and served him even when uke didn't remember anything out of love and regret. This is for like 20+ch. But in some karmic way, they need each other. Uke now attracts bad ppl, injuries and overheats while seme has bad energy that would affect others and gets cold. They are each other's medicine
Fcking devastating. They tried to save it by reincarnation, but it can never be saved. I'm broken, all is lost.
