1920. Masataka goes to Tokyo from his remote hometown to attend school and work. Literally by almost accident Masataka meets the man who becomes his employer and both will be enveloped. My favorite manga.

Side story of Yuki to Matsu told from Matsu's cat's perspective.

Yoshiwara. A prostitute falls for a certain man and certain promises are made that cannot be kept. Two other equally great stories included. Yoshiwara existed from 1617-1958.

A beautiful love story set right after the end of WWI. A nobleman with memory issues and the woman who nurses him to health. Complete in its home country, but woefully ongoing here.

A wealthy writer finds a young man in a brothel who turns out to be royalty, but who lives as a servant in Gerard's house. Set against the backdrop of the French Revolution, this is a fantastic read. Quite humorous in parts.

A Dutchman and a samurai.

Before and after WWII. Really amazing. Two lifelong friends who became lovers.
