Hahaha..that chapter 13 kinda made me really believe that, especially when Kakeru’s daughter was like “I leave you alone for a bit and you’re hanging all over each other” (or something like that), but I got those vibes even from chapter 12, when Mutsuki was taking to Sawa while Hajime is asleep. Anyway...it’s a possibility, right?

That could have been his younger brother, or at this point it might not be a canon ending anymore, since they were unnamed characters at the end. Ultimately though, even though it feels a bit BL between them, I doubt Natsuki Takaya would actually write that.

Me too ! Maybe it's because I'm reading too much yaoi but I was thinking what oerfect couple they could be if the story was a BL. (≧∀≦)

I felt the exact same thing, they also share a lot of the "Romatic Coded"/ Parallels to canon straight ships from the OG Furuba.
Like being the person they trust and take care de most, like that scene with one of them sleeping (vulnerability) and the other being a "guardian", just like how Haru also took care of Rin or Kyo with Tohru.
How the were "all over each other" and then they cut to Sawa and Shiki (a couple) same with Valentined Day, with all the couples sharing sweets, Sawa and Shiki, Shigure and Akito and fucking Mutsuki and Hajime , they are parent coded too lol, I remember when Another was ongoing the few Japanese Twitter accounts also noticed and seemed to ship them a lot, one thing is that if I remember correctly Takata specifically said that the Kyoru Grandaughter we see at the end of Furuba is their SECOND son's daughter Not Hajime's

Someone over on tumblr or Reddit kinda broke down and compared some of their scenes with some similar scenes of established couples in Furuba.
Also, yes Takaya confirmed that’s the child seen at the end of Furuba is not Hajime’s, but his younger brother’s. She also confirmed that Mutsuki and Hajime’s sister ain’t happening.
So all in all, Hajime/Mutsuki is as canon as we want it to be.
