I only noticed this when rereading chapter 10 and 1 or 2. When he first meet the prince and chamber scene. There are so many small hints that show his darker side. It was something so small we brushed over it thinking it was nothing.
Exhibit A: when they met and there was that daunting shadow. Exhibit B: when they kissed he never closed his eyes. Panel had a darker element in it. Exhibit C: when he talked to him about him loving him. There is a shodow going into himself. Kind of suggesting he has another side to him.
All in all the way it was laid out was in a way we couldn't relly suspect anything until it happened. We may have thought and held suspicions when we say the shadow but when there didn't seem to be anything linking to it we just thought it was for someone else. Not him.
