He is a child and he has not had the best experience with women, for instance his mother, one of the most important figures in life that most look up to for guidance, but here instead dabi is being neglected
Now he is only a child, and it is obvious his world view is going to be impacted by the treatment of his mother
So rather than calling out dabi for saying that, I think it would be better to at least acknowledge the reason behind why a child was compelled to believe such a thing
Because when a kid is saying something like that, you definitely have to look at what sort of situation they are in for them to say that, and here dabi is definitely not in a good situation, so I would say rei is more the reason behind this belief dabi has and you cannot blame him as he is a victim to such a circumstance as children are very impressionable.

It's because on how he views respect. Both REI Fuyumi have ice powers, neither one of them would have the fire powers that Endeavour is frothing for. Natsu has a chance and then Shoto is the golden child. It also doesn't help that Endeavor never treats Rei as an equal when he's talking to her in front of him
