the art is bomb, the plot not so much

i don't understand people complaining about the people complaining about rape. rape is an issue. rape being fetishised and romanticised is an issue. folks who say "if it's not your cup of tea, don't read it, go read cliche fluff instead" are off their rockers lmfao. just because people don't like a shit or problematic plot doesn't mean they are party poopers or anything lmao you are treating us as if rape is a "cup of tea", meaning a preference, and not a deplorable act happening to people irl.

"it's fiction, not reality" yeah but fiction has an active influence on reality. it represents reality and imitates reality. these lines and dots arranged to look like humans represent humans, are created by humans and act based on human mechanisms. otherwise you wouldn't be able to make sense of what you are looking at or relate to it.

you can't separate the reality-inspired and mirroring and influencing fiction from reality. if i walk in on someone masturbating to drawn/animated rape, cats being gutted and cooked or innocent pictures of babies, i am not gonna go "oh yes, this person is normal, none of that fap material says anything about them and their inclinations, everything is cool haha".

we are allowed to complain about people creating, distributing, trivializing and consuming rape. it says a lot about how they view social topics that are a part of life. a dark, immoral and criminalized part of life.

agreeing a bit, disagreeing some too. just a few thoughts to consider though, there are people who have rape kinks but it's a type of play that can be completely consensual. it's kind of dehumanizing to assume ... ciago

i guess it's time i respond to this, seeing as people still comment on this thread.

    1. i do kinkshame, because to me it doesn't only matter if members participating in it are consenting adults, but alsp what the basis of the kink is. replace "rape" with any other type of deplorable human acts and you must also come to the realization that the type of kink you are into has to have some kind of connection to what type of person you are. for example, would you not judge me if i had a kink where my partner and i pretend one of us is a dachau jew, soon to be sent into a gas chamber but given the chance to polish one of the nazi guard's (the other participant in this kink play) shoes before that and that nazi guard promising them to escape the holocaust if they let the guard fuck them? like, why do these types of kinks rely on adults consenting to roleplay actual human suffering, and why do they get turned on by that?

    2. with any type of media, especially porn, you never know who is going to see it and consume it. you cannot produce a pedophilia piece and say "ah it's cool, i only intended for my work to be seen by people who would never harm children". likewise, you can't produce any type of media with questionable handlings of violence or sexual violence and say "ah it's cool, we are all moral adults who had the same kind of upbringing in the same kind of culture that produced the same kind of world view, in which we all agree this piece of work exists in a totally different realm where the upbringing, culture and world view are completely untouched by and inconsistent with our own, and we purely immerse ourselves for only a brief moment of time in it until we climax to it, and then we pull out of it and return to our own, moral world without being affected by it, as if we have total amnesia of all the content of and experiences with the work".

    3. what i said in 2 applies to all media, but with porn there is another layer to it. porn sites and porn distributor sites or even normal ass manga distributing sites like this one do not require age verification. the mean age of first encounter with porn is 11 years. anyone can stumble upon or look up problematic works. you cannot say "i merely make porn for adults with specific brain wiring and cognitive capacities" and expect it to not be seen by 8-17 year olds who grow up with easy access to the internet. add to that that ~90% of internet user use portable devices such as smart phones, and you have an even bigger recipe for disaster (in upbringing and education), because now they have easy acces from anywhere at all times. media form ideologies and values in people, so if kids can have access to these "amoral worlds unrelated to ours" that also very much look like ours, they can and do grow up (as studies show) without being able to "pull out" from these entertainment media completely unscathed and without it affecting their world view. studies show that regular porn consumers are more prone to sexist and sexually violent views, and that is an undeniable fact that needs to be considered before saying "oh porn is obviously not a moral guide, just jerk off material haha"

not saying that porn should change and become moral guides for kids or something absurd as that. but the fact of the matter is that porn makes up most of the internet content, and access to it is super easy, almost entirely barrier-free.and that regardless of what lroducers intend their audience to be or understand their work by, they have absolutely no control over it.

i am very much against all types of porn*), simply because the production of, participation in and consumption have severely unhealthy effects on humans, and because stricter laws to access of it have persistently failed. you have actual human trafficking, rape, abuse, child sexual exploitation and revenge porn being uploaded on "safe" and free sites such as pornhub and co. not all porn is prpduced by licensed studios, and in fact most such videos are made by provate people or underground organizations. add to that that some see these types of acts shown in such material as kinks, and you have an even harder time distinguishing between real victim and fetish play. to the consumer it doesn't matter, because they get to orgasm, but to actual victims it's a nightmare they can't escape because what is released on the internet stays there forever. and if the material is produced without harming any real, specific persons (meaning virtual porn), it still feeds off depravity and serves as a constant reminder for real victims and can even produce real victims down the line.

at some point we have to ask ourselves "what is more important, allowing people unlimited access to free jerk off material for their own enjoyment, or risking that this enjoyment does more harm than any good, physical, mental and social, in the long run?" the human race has had to find sexual partners as their outlet for horniness for hundreds of thousands of years, and now in the past 25 years we have access to unlimited depictions of people and instead participate in voyeurism instead of building human connections. thanks to the internet, even just one tinder profile activated for only 10mins gives you a choice of more potential partners than a human would have seen in their entire lifetime 100 years ago. the human race hasn't psychologically evolved enough in this short amount of time to deal with the sheer abundance of sexual content and new forms of sexual rituals that lead to a)relief of urges or b)potential sexual partners.

*with porn i merely mean jerk-off material that works on the basis of voyeurism. erotica are stories that contain sexual elements but rely on artistic depictions of human relationships or emphasize a plot or message. erotica are works of art and literature that want to communicate ideas and emotions. erotica =/= porn. BL (shounen ai, yaoi containing plot) = erotica. gay hentai = porn.
so i condemn it when erotica such as yaoi read more like porn because of the immoral way of handling sexua violence.

    1. you do understand that what you described isn't consent right? lmao it's coerced consent where you're pressured or threatened. if giving freedom is an aspect of it, it's automatically not real consent. freedom is not given or taken, it is a right (or should be) of every human being.

    2. that's true with every media. by your logic we should then eliminate all "morally wrong" substances in entertainment such as violence, murder, and sexual violence in pornography. thus eliminating genres of shooting games, horror movies and such. your logic doesn't stand. of course media can influence a person, i'll never deny that. but for a person to defy and commit heinous acts is not completely on the media source's fault. that person may have definitely already been insane in the first place and held these ideas to reality before witnessing a media that encouraged it. but by that stance, it does not mean the media source is to blame. it only becomes at fault when it attempts to paint itself as "morally okay" to do. i'm sure many certain pornography videos have warnings even ones that the U.S fbi leaves to warn you to differentiate the two.

    3. that's the websites fault then, not the media source itself. most of this media derives from companies that have firm locks on this. all of this porn is outsourced by other people. you know that pornography is supposed to cost a shit ton of money.

i'm not saying you're "wrong". it's just that your points aren't targetting the media source itself. make an argument that can completely justify your point and limit itself to only this specific topic. "media affects reality" attains to an entire genre of fiction. what makes sexual media different from things like violent video games or horror films? when is a person able to understand the difference between entertainment and reality?

i'm sure you'd be able to further support your point with statistics to solidify your statements. i'd love to see what your studies were. all i know is the affects on pornography on adolescent mental health and sexuality. not sure about adults who consume it though since my argument is that this media is catered towards those with "more mature" minds to be able to grasp the media as merely fiction and entertainment.

but it causes one to wonder what would encourage a person to commit heinous crimes itself. witnessing a crime? seeing the romanticization and "benefits" of a crime? or were they simply twisted in the first place.

yeah censorship is hard. it's good that you're making your points though. there's good in dividing the mindsets for them especially with fucktards wanting a relationship like sangwoo and yoonbum lmao

i'm okay with certified entertainment pornography. because it's legal lmao but that shits expensive to buy. shit on 3rd hand websites is so creepy, yeah you really don't know who's a victim or not. that's why i personally stick to animated stuff or manga like this. i don't like the thought of a poor victim being exploited. though your argument is kind of stiff. sex trafficking has been happening for decades before media even formed. this kind of media isn't a cycle catering towards the sex trafficking ring. "producing real victims" is an assumption. most of the victims of sex trafficking are actually a certain ethnicity and gender (mainly women and indigenous or asian [in the U.S]).

again not the producer's fault. blame the media and people uploading second hand videos tbh. also not true, pornography has existed for centuries as long as paper did. you'd just be staring at one still image the entire time though or if you're in the edo period they have small caricatures that fuck lmao but that was media mainly consumed by the upper-classes who could afford it.

i agree though eroticas that encourage sexual violence as "okay" is quite awful and shitty in writing. but then that would mean that pure pornography doesn't attempt to display its kinks and such as morally okay in reality and outside of the media. it admits the differences between fiction and reality.

i see your point and understand your realities, but most of your worries of victims has been happening for centuries and though sexual media may be a factor in it, it's not completely one in every situation. don't get me wrong, i'd love to help and protect all victims of sexual violence, but eliminating a form a media that may or may not cause crimes is just gambling. i think it'd be better for us to donate to organizations to help victims of rape and sexual assault. or spread awareness about missing peoples in our communities. educating ourselves on these topics also helps. i personally never allow erotica or pornography to affect my moral standards, but i understand that some people (especially younger minds) are incapable of that. though i disagree with your point, keep building up your ideas and solidifying them a bit more because they are in a right mindset.

Y’all are grown, mature and making a whole lotta sense. People need to also keep in mind that even though it’s fiction and we should be able to separate it from reality, not everyone is capable of doing such. A lot of young people have access to this site and these stories and if they’re seeing rape being constantly normalized and romanticized, they’ll form the opinion that doing shit like that or having shit like that done to them is okay.

It’s also a lazy, cliche ass trope that’s over done and unnecessary in manga.

Rape isn’t cool or sexy or fun and just because the rapist is good looking does not justify it either. I really hate stories and comments such as those.
