O'come on

I've been thinking this for a while, but like why is the heroine in most of the stories in this genre always blind to the Male Lead's love like it's so obvious. She's written to be smart so why can't she see it. Why do they always write woman to lack common sense when it comes to these things?
Like she's not blind...

Yeah but she's never been loved before. It's not that she's feigning not to know, it's that she was so unloved by her family and society in general she never realized she was a potential source of interest for someone. Don't forget she lived as a sword for 300 years so she most definitely does not think of herself in human terms anymore.
I feel like she sees herself as a moving object rather than a flesh and blood person.
    Obviously, she's smart.
But she doesn't know love. She doesn't recognize it. She did not try to be loved by him, she said that he should be obsessed by her. Quite different.
She thinks she earned respect and loyalty, not love.

Yeah I get your point but at the same time it doesn't make sense for her to not even consider love, even rationally she should at least suspect it as a logical option.

She has practically groomed him to be obedient and as you put it "obsessed" with her. She's not dumb, she should see the possible consequences of that.
She has lived for hundreds of years, even if she was a sword she witnessed countless people, regimes and centuries pass by.
And now she sets up a Fiance for the Male Lead and all of a sudden the Fiance gets scared and uses an excuse to run away, and I'm supposed to believe that this super intelligent woman who has literally groomed the Crown Prince, can't see that he's in love with her. She literally just dismisses even the option in this chapter, when tbh he's being quite blatant about it to her, from his actions to the words he says to her and the song they sang was a huge hint.

Honestly the whole "Female Lead doesn't recognise the Male Lead loves her after countless hints and interactions" is just poor writing in my eyes.
    What a joke.

I kinda like this trope though, I have to admit (when it's not too blatant).
    Reminds me of real life.
This often happens in real life and you have absolutely no clue whatsoever 'cause you just consider the person in another way.
She literally saw him grow up, she' s waaay older. I see the struggle.
I personally wouldn't imagine going out with a boy 5 years younger than I am which I taught. I would know, I'm like 4 years older than the oldest students I have in high school. Icky.
Though I know that the reverse is not always true, in this sense...
I'm just saying I understand her reluctance to think of it though.
