Something's missing?

I really like this story, but it feels.... like it was missing some element that I'm looking for. Is it just me or does Noaki and Chizus relationship not really that close? Like, I know they obviously care about each other, but I dunno, it might be the way they storyboard it or drew out the scenes, but it felt like it lacked more father daughter bonding time between the dad and daughter. It's also odd how she called him Noaki-kun and it always felt so distant *shrugs*. I know that when you meet someone knew, you're attached to the first name you associate with them, regardless if it's first or last name, but this is your whole father lol blood daddy relative. You would think she'd call him dad or papa but she calls him by his first name. And it's interesting how she would eventually call Yosshi but dad, and I'm like whaaaat. They(noaki and Chizus) also don't really engage in physical contact alot. Like hugging it kissing or patting. I feel like from a creators/authors/editors perspective, I would change up the scenes to be more tender lol I also think that it probably could've been more dramatic but that's me. It's interesting how Chizu never says who she wants to be with, but I do understand if they decide not to do that as it's not fair to make children choose between parents. But I at least wanted to see how she felt about Noaki or how Noaki felt about her! I just felt it was never addressed. Even Yosshi was like, if you don't tell her how you feel, she'll feel like you didn't want her or etc. And I was expecting some more touching scenes. What do y'all think?

*I read someone's old comment about the name part. It's possible that's what the wife used to call oosawa, noaki-kun and it probably stuck to Chizu. And since oosawa doesn't correct it, he might hear it as a term of endearment from Chizu. Okay I get that now.

But I still feel like this story was lacking a bit in terms of highlighting the relationship between Naoki and Chizu. They don't feel very close sometimes. Like I said, He doesn't really hug her or kiss her or Pat her, basically no physical contact except the minimum v.v I really really like the story alot !! Don't get me wrong, but it feels like it was missing a few important emotional elements that give the characters more depth. Like strengthening the relationship between Noaki and Chizu to the readers and maybe getting chizu to say how she really feels about Noaki and how she wanted to stay or that she think he doesn't want her. But they didn't address any of that. So it's like meh.

And I mean touching scenes ( not as in ecchi lol), but like, tears in your eyes, I'm gonna cry kinda touching lol

Agreed. This is one of my favorite stories ever but I do wish there was more time between the two. I think they have a more silent bond though where they just appreciate each other's presence. Oosawa doesn't really say much but he shows he cares in small ways such as his overcaring emotions when she's sick or in trouble (i.e when they found her after she ran away). Chizu also likes to quietly follow her dad, even as a kid she probably understood he was busy and still appreciates the small yet extremely caring moments she gets from her father.

Wish they had more direct and fun moments between the two though. Though to fit their relationship, I think it would be more appropriate for Chizu to have some kind of action or form of affection she only gives to her dad to show she favors him. Maybe a unique nickname, a handshake of sorts, maybe her dad is the only one she lets carry her, who knows.

Still love this series though! One of the best that I've reread numerous times.
