He was going to end up rebelling any way. And she isn't really grooming him, she's training him. You talk about him being a child when she started this, but you forget she's only a couple of years older than he is, physically. Her soul is hundreds of years old which is why she seems older than her age, but she was barely 18 when she left her home. The only thing she has done is sped up the time of his rebellion, and prepared people who would loyal to only him so that she can leave him. She had no intention of being his love interest.

i can understand the manipulation argument since she really is using her knowledge of his mother’s death as stepping stone for his trust, but i don’t understand the “grooming” argument (im assuming we’re talking about sexual grooming). Dylan’s romantic feelings were an unprecedented result of trying to gain his trust. She’s not tryin to make him fall for her, just make him trust her so she can use him to ruin the empire. Hence also why she suggested that Dylan marries the red haired girl
it isn't grooming mate, she just manipulated the young male lead to lean on her as a trusted emotional support after his mother's death so that she could train him to be the next powerful emperor. she didn't try to manipulated male lead to conduct underage sexual activities or into doing flirtatious conversations with her. this is all for her revenge, not for romance. and y'all seem to have forgotten her intentions.
grooming can be trying to use your relationship, with an unequal power dynamic, to manipulate a vulnerable child. I know she doesn't want a sexual relationship with him now, but the fact it will end up like that knowing how it began doesn't make what she is doing not grooming. She groomed him into becoming a tyrant AND obsessively dependent on her.
Char is using her position as his tutor to manipulate him. That falls under grooming, and while it isn't sexual relationship, I don't like how it is romanticized in this manhwa. She will eventually fall for him despite knowing what she did to gain his trust.
I guess that’s a fair argument. However, we’re not talking author’s intent, but strictly the character’s intent. The author’s utilization of manipulation as an impetus for romance is one topic, but whether Charlize actually “groomed” Dylan (in a sexual way as implied by the replies) is another topic. OP talked about the relationship of the characters, so my reply stuck to that tangent.
you're right, i was wrong. but by definition, grooming is either used for "paedophiles preparing a child to meet their sexual needs" but can also be used as "training people into being higher level". but most people in the comments was talking about "mc grooming male lead into being in love with her" when she's not, rather she's grooming mc into being a tyrant and advancing the rebellion. that's a huge difference between the uses of "grooming" in the comments. idk why they are talking as if mc is a paedophile, irks me since i like the mc
If that's the case then every parent and adult in a child's life should be put in jail, tv and radio should be banned, and no one should watch movies or read books. She knew what he was going to become in the first place. It was stated he'd become a tyrant anyway, after his mother's death. Her intent was get him to that point faster, so she chose to gain his trust using his mother. Now that was wrong of her but it happens, she's not grooming him, she has done nothing but train him and educate him, and give him people that will support him. His feelings for her were not a result of her "grooming" him. They are his own, and he is affecting HER feelings, NOT the other way around. I really wish you guys would read this stuff and remember. Her only goal has been revenge. She never expected to like him, and she has been trying to distance herself once she realized that he may like her. Otherwise the whole point of her going through with her plans would mean nothing.
Their bullshit issue is that she lived by dreds of years as a sword before being sent back, and because she remembers those hundreds of years she is "too old" for the ML. The guy is of legal age by now, so that is a moot point, but they assume she wants him sexually because how could a young female not ever want the young male they are in front of. Legally they have no grounds to stand on, because their age difference is not that large, so they are trying to use the fact that she has memories of her previous life as an excuse to call her a pedophile.
It's stupid, but it gets used all the time to claim a relationship is pedophilia. It's not pedophilia, but not many people bother to learn the definition of the actual term so just let them call it whatever they want, fighting against it would be pointless.

I feel kinda uncomfortable with their relationship bc it feels like Char groomed him.. using the death of his mother to become the only one he can rely on and began controlling him when he was a kid still. His obsession with her turning into love in the future is gonna be hard to watch.
