Ikr he never had a nice personality or was actually useful to the country as the crown prince. I feel like people only started liking him bc he was fascinated by Chloe that's why he started treating her decently. Never forget that he was a good-for-nothing that voted for opium smuggling to remain as an income to the country, contrary to what he said about the Duke and Duchess doing illegal and unethical work in order to avoid taxes, which turned out to be a plan to lower the Gin market.
He was never nice, he was just a petty, sexist asshole that treats people well when they're useful to him.
So I keep seeing people saying that he was a nice character and that the author ruined him.... Did you all forget that from the very beginning he was introduced as a womanizing misogynist that had a new woman on his arm every week! then he gets it into his thick head that just because past Chloe confessed to him that it justified him in his pursuit of her now she's married and he starts to like her
And now he can't get her he's just decided that he's gonna tear down both the duke and Chloe because he feels inferior... So what was this thing about him being a nice character!
