Suddenly the curse that has been going strong and getting even more powerful since it was first cast upon the royals is suddenly getting weaker on just the prince specifically, such a blatant load of BS by the author to concoct a reason for Ellen to be with the prince. She is a literal goddess and you're telling me that the human prince is the best option for her love interest, There are multitudes of spirits that would make better partners for her or you know since she is pretty much immortal maybe this can wait for a long while.... until someone better comes along (╬￣皿￣)凸
The Prince being the ML is important for human/spirit reconciliation, especially given the nature of his soul. The author isn't "forcing" that. It's tapping into a timeless reality in the human narrative.
She pretty much went from being one kind of doormat to another, getting walked all over by that complete trash ML. She had no problems kicking the other dude in the balls so why not do it to her husband that left her to rot for half a year, apparently this whole badass thing lasted all of 1 second before he came back and steamrolled every decision and she just accepts it (╬￣皿￣)凸
