Well in chapter 2, it actually shows that Douglas is 38 while Gail is 36... I guess 15 is just the age that one is considered an adult in their world, kinda like how 18 is the legal age for us

Okay so based on the story Doug and Gail are both 15 years old but if you calculate it to bear years Gail is 30 (2 bear years to 1 human year) and in lion years Doug is 34 (2.28 lion years to 1 human year) and technically Chika is 16 in that world but he is 40 in his previous year. Based on their reaction Chika is older than them.
