Ok so since for a while now the plot has been leading up to the prince thinking that his father somehow killed his mother by pushing her off a cliff and he wonders if his father truly loves his mother it would make more sense for his doubts to be wrong. I think there's something dangerous on the cliff and he was trying to save Lizzie from it. His dad did the same but his mom died from the fall. An animal maybe? Some sort of natural phenomenon on the cliffs? Assassins cause the imperial family (grandma) is implied to hate the mom and that would extend to Lizzie?
If it does turn out to be his "iMAgInatIOn" then the author did a very cheap cliffhanger trick. ( ̄へ ̄)
