I guess from Yuri's pov, it's harder to see that. And also, I get that they neglected him, but parental love isn't all perfect like that. They're humans and they fucked up sometimes. I'm typing this because I guess that's how I see my parents. They tried for us but at the same time they have their lives to live. I resented them before, but life doesn't make loving someone easy at all.
