Tbh, I was really mad that they put the curse on MC just to stop him acting tough... They could at least be angry and slap the shit out of him to stop him being overprotective...
Really angry but at the same time, I feel happy that they do it because they care for him even though it a wrong way... I love the fact that MC still care for them despite what they have done to MC and Ravi. Just like MC said "It's adult responsibility to take them back to the right path if they went astray."
After reading spoiler about the real event that supposed to happen in the novel, I wouldn't mind if he didnt forgive them but I was hoping at least give them some words so that they atone for their sin and go to the right path againヽ( ; ▽ ; )ノ
I still feel bitter about everything... I stop feeling sad about them. Just thinking that it might happen to real life too... I mean like, you say hurtful words to protect them... something like that but I guess it just me being emotional maybe loll.. ヾ( ´ ◡ ` )ノ~❀

I also think it's reflective of their mindset as warrior-adventurers. Seeing Douglas overpower every enemy through sheer force, they thought the only way to stop him would be taking away his strength. At least, that would be the logical conclusion for Edmund, who proposed the idea. I doubt that Edmund cared for Douglas all that much; he's more the type to value people by their worth, and Douglas was quickly dropping in 'value' by the time they cursed him. The only person Edmund seems to truly care about is Alan.
And since it was proposed by the smartest person he knew, Alan had no issues with cursing Douglas. He lost his parents at a young age and never properly developed his social skills, so he probably had no idea how to go about talking Douglas out of his self-destructiveness. They are both people who value strength over everything else, and that is reflected in the way they solve problems.
Sorry for the info-dump, I just really wanted to take a literary perspective on this. I agree that it's tragic when people believe that they have to hurt others in order to protect them. But going through pain and heartbreak is a part of being human, and we come out stronger for it ^_^
