There is the two of us, what could POSSIBLY happen. Why shouldnt we leave the safety of the hotel for the wide and dangerous out doors? Course if they stayed at the hotel it would either have an earthquake or a fire.

    Nope! Thats the beauty of rule #1. They only effect Ikumi so it couldnt be a fire or earthquake. Not that something else couldnt happen though...
