Why does there have to be such a distinction lol, who cares if it's made by men or women, and no one's gonna look up the author of everything just to have the 'right term' many authors prefer not to share that anyway.
it's not bara either, both terms are used for a mainly female audience, however using BL or geicomi (which literally means gay comics) or gachimuci which is the actual term for bara
Bc ppl in the comments are saying “ew why is there yaoi hentai it’s gross.” And also just generally are always saying how horrible yaoi is etc etc without knowing a lot of what they call yaoi isn’t even yaoi. I’m not distinguishing it bc I think certain genres should only be made by and for ppl. But ppl seem to think this way and often talk about how horrible the (girls) who read (yaoi) are which is why I made the distinction. This isn’t yaoi
