Why does there have to be such a distinction lol, who cares if it's made by men or women, and no one's gonna look up the author of everything just to have the 'right term' many authors prefer not to share that anyway.
it's not bara either, both terms are used for a mainly female audience, however using BL or geicomi (which literally means gay comics) or gachimuci which is the actual term for bara

I’m not distinguishing it bc I think certain genres should only be made by and for ppl. The story is about this uke has a boss that he really really hates. And I also really hate like fuck this guy he sucks. Reading this makes me want to cry ngl. I’m a big advocate for separating reality from fiction bc I know in fiction we can explore unconventional and problematic ideas. But just the way he’s so unaware and the way the author writes mimori makes me think the author doesn’t even know what rape is. Like….if the mangaka’s friend went through the same thing mimori did would the author call them a cheater and blame them for being naive? I can’t help but overlap the ppl I know who have gone through SA with mimori and it makes me want to cry bc I wouldn’t want any of them to blame themself the way he does. I think the reason I feel this way really is in the way that this doesn’t even feel like it’s directed at rape fetish or smth (like a lot of yaoi contains rape bc a lot of ppl have a rape fetish) but it’s so unaware in what it’s portraying that I wonder…does the author know?
