I think some people don’t understand. Emperor isn’t supposed to be bad, not in this timeline/universum(?). That’s the main difference - Yeo dam in the 1st timeline healed the kid and went to the palace. Emperor didn’t have the time to become more.. human? And to have more feeling. And this is the timeline where he is really bad. But in the 2nd timeline Yeo Dam didn’t heal the kid and just helped him. Thanks to this emperor became a good person because he grew up with Yeo Dam, they spent almost whole childhood together and Yeo Dam raised him well, that’s why emperor truly cares about him now and doesn’t want to hurt him. Also he sees the things in other perspective now
