yes! first-timers would probably appreciate espresso-base drinks like lattes or flat whites. From there, you could move to pour-over, or whatever else that might tickle your fancy. (✷‿✷)

also it's funny that the solution to your problem is your username, LOL. milk neutralises a lot of bitter flavour in coffee naturally. try a flat white next time you go to a cafe!
I don't like coffee, haven't for years but I recently found a drink I liked with coffee in it, and this pops up. Maybe I'm moving up in the coffee world.. it's just so bitter even with sweet stuff in it(●￣(ｴ)￣●)
