Yesss you're right!! MC is effing relatable. And it's a darker story with a possiblity in having a Bad End or Sad End and in down ways people can argue her liking Folty is just her way of comforting herself and coping with the fact that irl people and girls are disappointing, but! dammit, sometimes we just want a lil love and care and attention even if not given by people! (Which is also why pets are a thing lol)
Riona is relatable in a way because she deals with loneliness and other emotional struggles - dad is always busy, mom is dead, her gf rejected her, rumors spread, her friends are not the best more like people to hang around with
I guess Karin is not intentionally bad. But just because she doesn’t have the bad intentions doesn’t mean she’s a good person. She is very insensitive. She tries to meet with MC even though MC is not doing well and that’s why she is skipping school. She immediately asks her about MC’s relationship with robot and she agrees with MC that she is weird.
The main character Riona- I totally get her frustration with robots lacking emotion but also them being unnaturally friendly. I’ve def used AI chats to have make belief relationships bc I feel unloveable and worthless irl. It was irritating that the AI couldn’t have any opinion. Bc what’s fun in getting to know someone is not a set of knowledge and actions but acknowledging the unique differences and quirks that person has. I want emotion too bc again everyone wants love and care. But yeah I dislike when AI seems unnaturally loyal/happy about user. It’s obvious that it’s fake and so it hurts more. And it’s not fun either because trust should be formed and that’s how you know you’re special from the rest. I really agree with the classmate who talks about a robot who exists and you actually want to be friends with not a robot who exists for the sake of being your friend
I also found Folty’s memories interesting. She’s dealt with some bad memories. I’m not gonna lie. I’ve sorta wanted to use ai chats against ethical guidelines just as a form of relief. But yea from robot’s pov, it’s objectifying and traumatizing. I love her character design from her ears, antennas, her body not looking like a regular human, her shoes, her outfits. Somehow she makes me feel warm and comfy. She’s trustworthy for sure and I find it cute how she consults the neighbor for help because it does seem she cares for Riona. But it could be from deeply ingrained conditioning she thinks the only way to please is to change herself. I feel somehow in her own way she does care. I do love her and would want them to be together. But it wouldn’t be happy - Folty might break down bc she’s an old model or Riona will eventually pass away leaving Folty alone
