The author has clarified (on twitter) this is a korean metaphor.
MasterGin's message: "Here "deep blue eyes" means the eyes give "sharp glare", not meaning the actual eye colour. It is a Korean metaphor,and im not so sure if it works the same in Eng- i didnt heard that before- yet im just saying. So the mom points out that it should be "deep blue" cus the dad's phrase sounded like metaphor, though it doesnt rly sounds like it in Eng."
Often Korean- eng tranlastors has mistakes coz korean is not easy to interpret.
