Did you forget that Riftan believes that he’s a fraud who married a top tier princess who’s been sheltered all her life… when in reality is the opposite. He literally thinks that she deserves better than him as a husband as he is a “lowborn”… He’s going the extra mile to pamper her as a way to make up for that “mistake”…

nah that's just him assuming and jumping to conclusions, if she was really pampered she wouldn't insist over and over on helping him and others, he's constantly putting her efforts down just because he feels insecure to provide, if he actually was caring he'd support her instead, give her a reminder here and there to take it easy cause obviously maxi always wants to put 110% effort. or at least listen to what she has to say. she's the lady of the land, if her own husband won't support her who will?
exactly! my original comment was in disbelief at how the fault still seemed the land on maxi & not on riftan’s lack of accountability. obviously i’ve read the story, so i understand his motives—it just doesn’t excuse his behavior. especially after so many conversations & arguments!
