As the comment title says, I have to re read the manga, but wasn't it revealed that Shirotani didn't actually have mysophobia? Like the whole point was that his internal struggle made him have physical reactions and when searching it online, he related a lot to people with mysophobia and interpreted/convinced himself he had it.
Again, got to re read it, but I think a major part of the story was that Shirotani's struggles with the one other guy resulted in him trying to find an explanation/cover to hide away those feelings. Anyways, sad to hear the anime was canceled ╥﹏╥
