Or, you could just accept other people's opinions, as you said, and acknowledge that not everything you like will be liked, and will be criticized. You could have simply ignored my comment. If reading a negative comment about your favorite work ruins your day, don't read them. I read negative comments about my favorite BL/GL all the time, and either I ignore them or dismiss them and move on with my day. But I'm not going to tell them not to express their opinions, and no, I'm not going to stay silent when I see something that I don't like. I feel better when I express my opinions and see people disagree/agree with me, so no, it's not a waste of time for me.

Chapter 41 onwards the mc fully comes into terms with his feelings for iljo and is pretty much a green flag from there on. he didn’t get a much deserved chasing arc which I didn’t like, but he definitely starts treating iljo right. And he never got a girlfriend in the story ever (he did lie about one though). Maybe you got mixed up with another story. Here are the raws
