Wattpad is not end all be all. It's literally one of the worst sites to post and read fanfiction. Way before wattpad was even an idea FanFiction.Net was the go to for fanfiction. Currently it's AO3 (aka Archive of our own).
So, even if it was written on wattpad before, it's HIGHLY likely it was mostly used in BL AU for Star Trek or some other early fandom on Fanfiction. Net or Archive of our own.
Well I never said wattpad is end all be all lol. I also never said wattpad was the beginning of it. I only stated that I’ve seen the genre years ago before it became a thing in manhwa/manga. As well as wattpad being a common site people used often and know of now. Either way, my original comment wasn’t discussing anything about where it originally began so i wasn’t trying to start any debate about the sites who used it first, since I don’t care for it.

I’m surprised by people not knowing straight omegaverse. Idk about y’all but I read wattpad years ago in middle school and one of the top genres was werewolves. The entire genre was about alphas and omegas, humans turning into actual wolves, actual packs, etc. The genre was mainly straight. So Ngl I feel like straight “omegaverse” existed long before BL started the trend of making omegaverse into comics.
