i remember that they both were meeting up for the first time (they were in communication purely online and through messages) and when they both met up, they were surprised bc they thought that the other person was a guy but they proceeded on the date anyways
i think there was a scene where they were both getting hit on by two dudes and out of annoyance one of them refuted with something along the lines of "stfu, i'm on a DATE with my GIRLFRIEND"
