to say the ability to create anything that doesn't contain rape is completely lost is a pretty big exaggeration.
maybe if you looked beyond the most popular stories, you would see that not all current day manga AND manhwa are like that lol
i dont even think its gotten worse, its just that rapey ones have gotter super popular so they overshadow
It was meant as a hyperbole, I wasn't being literal.
Also, for the exact reason that they've gotten more popular, they've been also created a lot more. It's this popularity which makes it first choice for the Korean authors to chose to create a toxic story in order for it to sell. It wasn't as bad in the past and I'd know, for I've been an avid yaoi reader from a fairly young age. Yes, plenty of toxic manhwa existed in the past but the current raise in their popularity has certainly made rise on the market which has led to the creation of even more in the genre, to the point they completely overshadow those that are not toxic at all.
it was not clear at all that it was mean to be hyperbole statement
it genuinely seemed like you were serious lol
also im going to have to somewhat disagree.
yaoi in general has gotten more popular so there are more stories being made- therefore more toxic shit as well.
the rapey shit has always been in the forefront of yaoi, like i dont think anything really changed apart from the rise of yaoi itself.
and im someone who has observed the yaoi scene for a quite some time.
This literally ruined the story. It was unnecessary. It could be a delicious slowburn in which they do it after they both get to feel an attraction towards each other but no, the author had to go for the realistic psychopath route
