Yes the Duke is much older than the prince. The Duke was trusted by the king to govern while MC was underage before the king died.
Mc was tricked by the Duke to bond but the bond is done by biting no other contact was necessary. After the marking then the Duke did nasty stuff to mc because mc is under his control.

Background story or not, the Duke seems much older than the prince. And moreover the imprinting was by force. Again, we'll see what justification the author will use but I'm not buying any of it.
