I mean, the story already way off from it's original plot..

This was supposed to be about Neji and Misaki's "forbidden love in the eyes of the government" since they are not allowed to be with someone who wasn't provided by the gov't, the hardships and the painful decisions they have to face to be together till the end while fighting the gov't for their love. I think that was supposed to be the plot for this manga and the main reason why it is titled "Love and Lies". At the beginning, it was clearly shown that the story's holding true to it's synopsis, plot, and title BUT NOW? NO, I can't see it anywhere. Heck, the government even won and the guy really fell for the one he was set up with. So basically, this story has been out of its box and thrown into the trash can.

Maybe the reason why it has become like this is because of Liliana's popularity in Japan, since most of the time,a character's popularity can lead to the change of plot and even the ending, like what happened to Hirunaka no Ryuusei and Short Cake Cake and many other manga out there. This is actually not unusual but still very disappointing, seeing a very good plotted story turning into garbage. It's even getting an anime adaptation because of its popularity and Liliana was shown in the teaser the most.

Idk, I think that this might have been intended, like the covers and the title that went along with the cover pictures. I don't know if that even made any sense, but I remember reading somewhere in the comments that the cover pictures with Liliana, Misaki, and I think even Nisaki, had these titles and that it was a play on words that went along with what the chapter was going to be talking about. Idk, it just feels intended, like in Girl Meets World.
