Jiwook

DarkSoul May 10, 2017 4:13 pm

After rereading chapter 33 i think Jiwook is delusional, like, actually paranoid psychotic.

First, i do believe the careless lady said what she did, but the really mean grey bubbles are just in Jiwook's head:

Second, I'm pretty sure he hears his brother say that, but again it's only in his head:

Yea, i know I'm stating the obvious and i don't wanna defend him or anything, just saying, since it looks like we have some more time to discuss the current chapter.

So, he might be psychotic, since he himself stated these intrusive thoughts occured so suddenly... or maybe he's just simply an @sshole.

I agree. He seems like he might have paranoid schizophrenia.

I was thinking he has more along the lines of PTSD. But the problem is, we don't know enough about him yet to say what he would have PTSD from. :o

Well, when you start hearing things people say that aren't real, that's along the lines of psychosis. I guess really severe PTSD can cause psychosis, but as someone who has had PTSD before, that doesn't seem to fit, IMO. It's more like schizophrenia, or Bipolar I with psychotic mania.

I do not mean any of these terms to be offensive. I know many wonderful people who suffer from these things. Even if Jiwook has any or all of these things, it does not excuse him for arranging for his brother to be gang raped. Doing something like that is not a symptom of a mental illness.

Exactly. Someone doing that is actually a symptom of what's wrong with typical society which privileges mentally able people over those who are mentally ill. So, someone who is mentally ill doing that is a symptom of what neurotypical people have taught them. I am considered one of the mentally ill, BTW.

Right. Mental illness has nothing to do with an asshole. And illness means you can cure, you just need to want to seriously be cured, and put some effort.

I'm sorry, but I am a bit confused by your comment. If you could clarify, that'd be great! Are you saying that Jiwook arranged to have his brother gang-raped because of what neurotypical people taught him?
