I think this is definitely the next hardship : he will take back his place and Mao Mao will decide she is not someone "worthy" which technically she is the daughter of one of the emperor top advisor but she would rather eat a wall than aknowledge her old man
No, she won’t become his consort, and he doesn’t want to do that to her either. This will end in Vol 4 of the LN and till what I am reading (Vol 14) she is still not his consort/concubine - though she has admitted she likes him (end of vol 12).
He is going to come out as the prince !
