Based on the novel both of em got ambushed and Paula couldn’t help him bc he was severely injured she gotta runaway so he died. After that she kept blaming herself for her sisters’ and Lucas’s deaths though those aren’t her fault at all.
What happened to Violet tho?
She ended up marrying someone else, had a child with him, and eventually became a widow
BUT she wasn't unhappy as she married a good man and lived a happy married life with him when he was alive
Can't remember if she fell in love w/him tho
ALSO, she became the head of the household and manages their fief(?) / estate by herself
Oh that's good. I was afraid for her since I don't really know who to ship since Violet seems like a really nice girl and feel so guilty whenever Paula gets her crumbs with vincent.
