Many people mistake kindness for naivety. Abel is smart, especially his novel incarnate. And don't let that fairy appearance fool you, Abel can take care of himself. He saves himself 99% of the time in the novel, alone.
Since the moment he got revived in the new body, everyone is shitting in Abel even tho this is literally WHO HE IS. Since the beginning, Abel was kind. He is not naive, and ppl in the comments are seriously intanfising him just because he doesn't want to let go of his morals/ideals.
Can you seriously ask someone to let an innocent baby die? Someone who's ideals couldn't let him to just watch as an innocent
child got abused by everyone. Someone who saved a child in a similar situation. He literally saved Karas when everyone tried to kill him.
He was the only one that thought going against the council (even to his demise) would still be worth it if it meant Karas would get some warmth while growing up. Do you seriously expect that kind of person to simply just sit and watch as Karas innocent slaughters people? (previosuly the commoners on the ship, and in this case a new born baby)?
Just because he is acting foolish doesn't mean he doesn't grasp the situation at hand. That's literally what first season was about! His facade to trick the council of the heart, by acting like a fool while he knew (and understood) much more that was going on behind the scenes.
