I think it would be nice to have a bridge from the moment they broke apart to coincidentally bumping into each other. It doesn’t have to be a whole separate chapter. It could just be each panel mirrors what they were both doing and feeling for each year. It also gives a chance for future chapters to have more detailed flashbacks.
Kinda like this: one of the panels features ML eating steak with a friend or partner at this fancy restaurant to celebrate something. They’re enjoying their time together and then there’s a panel where ML briefly remembered how much MC loves meat. he chuckled quietly and immediately realize they aren’t together anymore. As the chuckles fade, his eyes dimmed and reflected emptiness.
