YOU don't have to do a torture training where it involves a WOMAN getting ASSAULTED, and no matter how much you can justify why it's being done or how it could've taken place, we can do the same scenario for the opposite gender or any of the above not listed. If the point was torture training, everything else could've been done, I'm being sooo fr rn, there was NO NEED for rape.
For those saying "dark romance" and whatnot as if it's to be normalized and justified magically like you'll get everything you want from a single 'please', Dark Romance is way more than just sexual assault. You could've done EVERY other thing such as manipulation, isolation, forced drug use, slave contract via. a debt; sabotage; blackmail, power abuse, whatnot, THERE IS NOOO NEED for rape even if it can be listed in it. DO NOT use DARK ROMANCE as a means to downplay. IT IS NOT helping.
If the first torture you can think of to a woman is to sexually assault them, then I have no words
and lastly, 'male dominated fields' don't apply in torture. Another thing that's downplayed where both sides can face the same things as if gender was a barrier that magically makes you unavailable to do what said gender excels at or most of the ones in said field are this gender vs that gender. I don't understand.
Girl I think you need to touch grass and reality, cuz that's how irl males see a helpless women they'll rape them, especially if they're some sort of hostage. They're just that vile, how could you put so much trust in them lmao
They don't have to add rape, andd that just feeds your delusion more and it's more Harmful.
"But he still didn't have to rape her to torture her" Bro I think you missed the point, he's literally showing her (FL) and some of you stuck in fantasy world. Also I'm from a third world country, you'll understand what I mean if you search up what happens if a woman got kidnapped by a man in third world country, what he did to her (or you don't like how author is adding unnecessary rape, which for me it should be especially given the context) is NOTHING compared to an actual irl kidnapped woman going through
I truly, truly believe one MUSTN'T be exposed to this type of content anywhere, because why should it happen in the first place
But as you said, this world isn't a fluffy place, and okay, but 'invalidation to those women'? I'm sorry but if you think two people getting together in a dark romance scenario and a rape scene appears, I don't think it's doing any justice to those women. Please warp your brain around and sound reasonable. Replying to your last comment, have you yourself experienced a kidnapping? While I sound like a know-it-all and a little bitch holding their finger up, I've been kidnapped before as a child, and worst of all, been sa'd at least twice, one with the shitty kidnapper.
Though not a woman, I've experienced a bit of it, and being particularly young, is a traumatic experience that I now laugh at to cope, which is how I deal with it.
WE DON'T NEED REPRESENTATION WITH TWO PEOPLE GETTING TOGETHER. THAT IS THE WORST TYPE OF REPRESENTATION YOU COULD BE DOING. THAT'S HARM. Do that to a story where one character isn't getting together with another character. A completely strict relationship where it's work-related in cases like this. DO NOT fuck with me if you don't get that. You have so much distrust in the world, while completely valid, let's not get it mixed up with people that'd have a relationship now, hm? I don't think a person would want not being able to trust their partner. This is where the 'dark romance' justification scenario comes into play. Don't hurl that shit around as if it's a totem of immunity, though I don't think you've done so, others have.
I beg to differ, having something like this normalized in relationships where one would be close to the other, even in dark romance. And while consumers should be at least 18+ to be viewing this, the dark romance community has people below that. While farfetched and also not, I personally don't think representing this and the person A in question experiencing it and the person B doing it to person A should be getting with each other. So many other ways this scene this could've gone. While no longer in a third rate country myself, it doesn't mean I wasn't in one before, and while worse for women, it doesn't discriminate entirely for other genders and of any ages, so please. It just requires a certain helplessness for the person doing it in question where they'd find thrill. Most of the people reading this already knows what happens if it's been brought up, like he did, or hopefully do some research on it. But one doesn't necessarily have to act on it to show how bad it is, like HE DID.
I never said I didn't disagree that he or any people should show the danger of rape, by actually doing it to someone, NO it doesn't mean like that. Also it means that maybe this manhwa isn't cup of your tea because the unnecessary rape and is because of your past trauma and I never said I liked both ML and FL either. They're both crazy people, a nd that's why I love their dynamic, I'm only holding on because of my curiousity of what will happen to them in the end.
And honestly, it's their own fault if they're under 18+ and got exposed to this kind of content, it's not one's obligation to care
what you've been saying is that the torture training is showing what happens irl, and that it is rightfully represented, even if you don't like it yourself, and bring up that irl is worse. There is no need to represent this in something that's not set in reality, as not only does it have an unrealistic plot at its baseline, but also equally unrealistic people, while having a hint of realism, because this work is fiction. It was also unnecessary to move the plot forward, which is why I'm wondering, why is it needed?
(forgive me if I'm misunderstanding but if this wasn't the case, I'm not sure what your reason is in this context to overall have a sense as to why rape is being shown)
This is my cup of tea, as I find the story appealing, it's just that it took a sloppy turn where it could've been way better. Whatever trauma I have, as I said, I laugh at it, and it doesn't hinder me from enjoying something that may have implications or things that correlate or have similarities to what was done to me.
I get wanting a proper representation or a proper 'torture training' if you will, but it's two people that will get into a relationship. There were many other ways to go about handling the torture training part, or even skimp over it, not assault her like that.
The whole point of the torture training, as her instructor, is not to give information away and to keep her shut. It got personal, he just wants to hear her say she won't look for him anymore, which is why he's been making it hard but also easy for her at times. He outright invalidated the whole point. He has a different objective than the usual instructors who would subject her to this. This is why it was unnecessary to start doing that to her under the pretense of torture training. It does nothing but sour what could've been a better part of the story, and not only that, it's a pivotal part in shifting their current relationship, which you can do without the need for it.
The reason why I pointed out not only people who are potentially underage, and brought up the gender/age barrier with an event that happened to me personally, is because you seem to want to educate people or at least have it represented properly,y and bring real life people as your main point and argument, despite this manhwa being fiction and unrealistic at its core. I'm just picking your brain to see what it is that you think as to rape being shown and your refutal to many reasons as to why it shouldn't be left out despite disliking it.
I also apologize for any harsh words, it comes out as a habit

I see a lot here justifying SA just because it's dark romance. Dark romance is possible without r. This chapter is unnecessary.
