Hell nah. She's still terrible. There is no excuse for her actions.
My only hope is maybe her mom knew the future and the eldest bro died (in the novel's final ending, that the FL never got to read). It's just a desperate theory of mine, that maybe she tried to change things (including her child's gender) to keep the FL under the radar so she wouldn't catch the eye of the person who would kill her?

I get that she wanted the best for Mc BUT that doesn’t excuse her blatant favoritism to her little brother. And when she gave the protection necklace to that brat of a brother and left her with NONE TO PROTECT HER. LIKE THATS HYPOCRITICAL CAUSE HER MOM SAID THAT SHE DIDNT WANT HER TO LEARN SWORDSMANSHIP BECAUSE ITS WOULDNT HELP HER FIND A HUSBAND OR WHATEVER BUT COULDNT SHE LET HER HAVE SOMETHING PROTECT HER TOO???? AND IF SHE WAS SUCH A GREAT MAGE COULDNT SHE MAKE ANOTHER ONE??
btw this was when the first 17 chapters were released so if later chapters actually give A SOLID REASON then I be like alr maybe she isn’t that bad BUT I DONT think there will be anything that excuses that HORRIBLE BEHAVIOR AND THAT FAVORTISM.
