I believe this story tackles about human emotions in the sense of trust, betrayal, and love. How one person pure’s solitude (symbolism of a sheep) could be change in the face of emotional disruption (Todd’s role). In the end Dennis chose love- his believed formed bond with Todd putting aside all his fears in hopes to upholding their promises. A person who, in hope to embraced change, fell in the schemes of a fox, a fallen lamb.

I think Todd really do have that small hope in living a normal life but nature itself just wouldn’t let him, in the last chapter he was seen trying to pet the horse when Dennis was about to go, but the horse avoided his hand leaving him in a sour expression. I think it’s one of those things that keeps reminding and chaining Todd to who he really is, that even if he DO try(?) doing things what a normal person would, nature wouldn’t let it.

It might also be the reason why he did what he did in the end, because thats what he’s supposed to do, thats his role, and thats what expected of him, thats his nature that he couldn’t change.

There was a lot of symbolism in the story, few of which i believe are:
Lamb - purity
Todd - catalyst of change
Todd’s name - a fox
Todd’s disappearance - the trial itself
Cliff - a boundary of choice

Overall it’s a great read, it made me think at least unlike the generic yaoi stories i read daily lmao. Thought, the story being short, and having an open ending, it promotes readers to visualize and deduce their own ending. Atleast for me, I believed that Dennis jumping on the cliff wasn't literal but rather the emotional and physical acceptance of change he went through in order to be with Todd. In my book they’re together where they both fully accepted each other’s flaws and lived happily ever after ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

Ooohh I like your insight about this! :3 and I agree that this was a breath of fresh air to read from the typical yaois. I think the author deciding to leave it an open ending was a great decision to make readers make their own theories and insights (๑•ㅂ•)و✧.
