Karmic suffering

I kinda like this one as far as misunderstanding-based drama goes…

Really it isn’t a misunderstanding on both sides, it’s fully the seme jumping to conclusions because he just hadn’t been very challenged in his life, had little exposure to a lot of adult things as a youth, and like many young people was arrogant about his own ability to perceive a situation.

Arguably, regardless of the fact that he was young and mistaken, the seme’s actions are simply unforgivable, full stop. Jury’s out on whether he even deserves a second chance.

But I like the idea portrayed in this story that this man’s horrible mistakes take a PHYSICAL toll on him. He endures devastating physical discomfort, for YEARS… and it’s 100% his own fault.

From the uke’s side of things, he isn’t obligated at all to reconcile. None of it was his fault. And it being a misunderstanding doesn’t change the results.

The seme, however, has no choice — his physical ailment it turns out DEPENDS on his redemption in the eyes of the one he hurt most! It’s his only path toward healing in every sense. And for years, he didn’t even KNOW that this was the answer all along.

I guess I like that it kinda literalizes the consequences of hurting someone else. Even before he realized the extent of his mistake, and sees himself as innocent, the seme still suffers greatly. His life is deeply impacted. He sees himself as purely a victim.

But him realizing he was actually the cause of his own suffering is key to his recovery.
