I dropped it a few months back for the same reasons and just checked on the last few chapters, still not worth it in my opinion. His face and attitude still rubs me the wrong way

My blood is boiling and I'm thinking about dropping the whole thing .. I just dislike this manipulative ML so much right now. Its sooo frustrating to see him so smug all the time and he seems insincere to me! I can't understand how our (smart) MC could give in so fast >.<
Could someone tell me if the ML will stay that way or if the MC will get more backbone?
