OMG FINALLY!! SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTOOD THE PLOT!
Some people here are pissing me off. It’s clear they don’t even understand the plot, nor do they know what omegaverse is actually about. This is what happens when you prioritize binge-reading random yaoi instead of upgrading your reading comprehension. Y’all are just making a mess for everyone else and dragging the entire discussion down with takes that wouldn’t pass a basic literacy test.
MC was supposed to be an alpha though. The doctor even said so. Its due to pheromone exposure to the top when he was young that he turned omega. And did you not see that what the alpha did to the uke is illegal? Because scenting someone who’s not their mate clearly has side effects. With those side effects, i’d consider it the irl equivalence of drugging. And plus what happened to consent. The top liked being protected. The mc doesnt. Simple.
Moreover, the mc was never the damsel in distress. He’s strong. He works hard to be strong. He can protect himself. The only reason he can’t protect himself is because the top scenting him for the long term makes his heat cycle unpredictable. So the top is the one making him ‘the damsel in distress’.
That time his heat came out of nowhere. Was that mc’s fault? No. Its the top. He cant even use drugstore suppressant. He have to use specialised suppressants to control his heat. And obviously those suppressants arent easy to get given that his pharma ceo parent cant obtain enough to ensure that he always have it on hand, if not that heat incident wouldnt have happened.
No matter how hypocritical the mc seems like, i dont see any excuse for the top’s actions which could have put the mc in actual danger.
I am sick and tired of readers blaming Suah for turning Juhyeok into an omega. THIS IS NOT CANON and the author has not written one scene alluding to it. Unless the author officially writes this in a later chap, it is unfair to make such a huge jump in logic to blame Suah. Suah (seme) is in the same position as JH -- his entire family are omegas and he was supposed to be one too. When it comes to Suah's case, everyone can assume "the pre-screenings were wrong", "family lineage isn't enough to determine your secondary sex", and "it must've been a coincidence". But with JH, yall throw away that VERY SAME logic and assume that someone must have forcefully changed uke's gender???
If you had read to the end of my original post, you'd see that I say Suah is wrong for unconsensually scenting MC and I never excused his behaviour. I agree that his scenting has caused MC many issues and this should not be glossed over. The thing is.. I can hold this position about Suah while still being able to also critique aspects of JH's character too. That's the beauty of.. NUANCE and critical thinking.
I am commenting on MC's hypocritical behaviour. A strict gender role dynamic is inherently going to be unfair to whoever is the omega and beneficial to the alpha. MC was fine and dandy with a relationship involving said dynamic, so long as HE was the one that was the masculine alpha. And after being confronted with the reality where he would be perceived as the feminine "wife" to Suah by society, he completely revoked all love for Suah. Which is indeed hypocritical and places an unhealthy conditional type of love on Suah. Readers can sympathize with this/call it out without taking away the fact that Suah's love for JH is also very unhealthy!!

Final note: I said MC is now the **metaphorical** damsel. Because JH was the one who established this dynamic as kids that the strong alpha protects the omega. So **metaphorically**, their roles have shifted.
Ok i dont really care about the pre-screenings that much, but it is pretty much alluded that the top is at fault. If it was that common for a different secondary gender to be presented by a family, nobody would be shocked. But it is not the top’s choice so whatever.
What i’m getting at is the fact that people have preferences and his treatment of the top is justified. Unlike the top, who turns into a stalker and a sexual assaulter just because he was rejected. He is the very definition of the bane of the mc’s life.
My post was discussing MC's behaviour. So yeah it's focused on.. discussing MC's behaviour. I knew ppl would think I'm defending Suah's actions when I never said one word defending the man, so I PURPOSELY wrote a disclaimer saying that I also don't agree with Suah's scenting and he's wrong for that. Yall will read that and STILL say "well you made it seem like their actions were on the same level". Critical thinking guys I beg.
JH retaliating against what Suah views as protection and "is best for him" is totally valid! JH has his own autonomy. Whether he wants to wear a collar or wtv else is his own decision. He shouldn't have anyone trying to interfere with that. Again, I never argued against this bc that wasn't the topic of my original post. However multiple truths can exist at once. We can see that MC's reason for abandoning his love for Suah is derived from internalized misogyny and his inability to accept that he is an omega. Objectively this hypocritical behaviour and operating out of a place of internalized misogyny IS wrong.
Yes, but you said he shouldnt be getting scot-free with his behaviour like he’s doing something harmful? Like notice how he was never the one approaching the top initially. Whatever he was doing to the top was a reaction to the top’s stalking and creepy actions. So what kinda karma should he be getting for treating a stalker the way they should be treated.

If MC had indeed been the alpha and Su-ah turned out to be the omega, like MC had imagined, he wouldn't blink twice about their dynamic. I think he spent so many years relishing in this fairytale idea that he'd be the prince. He's the buff judo master that swoops in to protect his damsel in distress, while Su-ah is his damsel. And if this actually manifested, MC would have NO problem with it. In fact he'd probably be happy to be the alpha protecting and scenting his omega. Largely in part because I think he always viewed Su-ah to be the feminine one..the shy timid kid that always needed his help.
And now that the roles are reversed and essentially, MC is the metaphorical "damsel in distress" while Su-ah protects him, MC can't handle it. HE wants to do the protecting but refuses it the other way around, especially from someone he believes should have been the omega instead. And because of that, he treats Su-ah cruelly by breaking their childhood promise even though he was so proud about their love for so many years prior. Which yeah IS shitty and hypocritical on his part.
FOR THE RECORD: I think BOTH of them have done wrong. The Top is clearly at fault in the way he chooses to "protect" MC by scenting him without permission. But MC should not be getting away scot free with his behaviour. I keep seeing people take one side over the other but I feel that BOTH of them have faults, just in different ways.
