Suzuki said right before it happened to Sugiki that he wouldn't sleep with other men, the Manga is still good and they ended up together so who cares, but it doesn't mean what he did isn't shitty and doesn't make sense as to why he would do it to begin with.
The movie might not be as good as the manga but at least it removed a lot of the problematic stuff this Manga had, including something that does count as cheating even if they were never together.

It doesn't matter when Suzuki made it exclusive, you don't promise someone you won't have sex with others if it's not meant to be interpreted as an exclusive relationship.
Before chapter 28 things were still "friendly", not actually in love neither there was a promise of being exclusive, so if Suzuki met other people that's ok, he wasn't at a point where the two were actually invested in each other yet.
But after the train scene things definitely got serious, that's when even if not together the relationship was already leaning into exclusive territory and for a while before chapter 28 things remained like that.

Yeah I know, I was just saying that at one point it was kinda understandable because although Suzuki gave him a little kiss on the lips the two of them were still kinda "neutral" about each other before the train scene, before that Suzuki was shown to be in his bed with a girl (if I'm not wrong) but that was before both actually developed feelings and before things got actually exclusive, like, right when they first met or something like that, so I didn't mind much.
At that point they really were nothing, after that Suzuki wasn't shown sleeping around anymore and was always with Sugiki then chapter 28 happened and the story went downhill from there.
I don't know if what I'm saying makes sense, this is mostly what I remember.
Suzuki was shown to sleep around two times, one was when they just met/were still not in love or close so they didn't own each other exclusivity, the second when they became exclusive although not together after Suzuki promised he wouldn't sleep with other men.

The point is, Suzuki suck and he's a cheater (also I think if I read correctly that at one point a orgy happened and Sugiki was participating in it, but I didn't bother reading everything because I was disgusted with the Manga, I remember seeing Sugiki in some man bed and this man said he enjoyed watching young people "move their hips" and Sugiki apparently slept with one of the 3 people there, one of them looked like Suzuki but I don't think/know if it was him, so in total it was Sugiki, the older man and 3 people and apparently a orgy happened but I really don't know, it seems like he did sleep with someone else but at that point Suzuki called things off with Sugiki so Sugiki didn't cheat compared to Suzuki because Suzuki broke things off after cheating on him, that's what I read through, I kinda skimmed through if that's how you say it, but I did stop for the important parts)
