There are a couple of chapters that go into why Yuriko prefers bl. I get the sense that it's a straightforward way to enjoy a romantic .. experience(?) without the burden of trying and failing to relate/insert herself in the story. I've met only a handful of women who admit to regularly read bl and what I gathered about their reasons was entirely unrelated to anything in this manga. They like men, they like intense romance and they really, really, REALLY wish real men were less shit so they grow addicted to feeding their fantasies with fictional guys that suffer and act out emotional highs and lows like women do. (I'm just humbly paraphrasing).
Speaking for myself; I'm just freakishly addicted at this point. I read a LOT and enjoy all genres but for Romance it's maybe around 95% bl mainly because it feels natural. S8 romance is just as trashy, braindead and offensive as yaoi or yuri but my bullshit tolerance for female abused or immeasurable stupid characters is waaay lower. It might seem contradictory but men in yaoi are less relatable than women in whatever else manga because I feel like these characters with dicks are barely even human. The entire male genre as portrayed here is just.. bonkers. It tickles my brain like a cartoonish parody would and that's my baseline vibe while having fun reading smut garbage. That said; when an author gets it right I get deeply emotional and I admit to being extremely sensitive. I'm 100% an insufferable overthinking soft hearted mess with too much time on my hands (clearly... ) (sorry for the 4 am rambles)
there's this video essay explaining this, i would say it's from a straight (or bi) woman perspective but still it explains what women mean when saying they consume BL because it's less relatable than yuri or straight romance

as an aroace girl myself I mostly read bl because its easier to not put myself(or see myself represented) in the shoes of the woman since... there is no women present in a main gay bl romance I do of course like some hetero ships here and there but i dont go out of my way to consume hetero romance manga/anime

Hey y'all I've got a question for the reader's of this manga. I haven't read this yet, but my friend kept telling me to read this since it's about a woman being asexual.
My question is, why does the mc of this manga only likes bl? I kind of quite see why she doesn't like straight love, since it made her feel 'the odd one out' but is there any reason to why she only validates/make love between 2 men her escape? I'm quite confused with her way of thinking.
Or perhaps anyone that only read the genre bl, and not gl/sl/ any other genre that doesn't involve romance. Why only BL?
